Books Over Drinks with Tish Oney
September 27 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm$50.00 – $60.00
We are so excited to spend an evening with Tish Oney talking over her latest book Jazz Singing: a Guide to Pedagogy and Performance!
You may recall Tish’s last book, Peggy Lee: a Century of Song. This new book merges the worlds of jazz and classical singing in a comprehensive guide for those teaching and singing jazz! Tish talks about the techniques of various jazz singers, offering insight and inspiration. We, for one, are inspired, and are excited to host Tish and guests like you for Jazz Singing-inspired cocktails.
Jazz Singing combines jazz stylization and improvisational techniques with classic voice pedagogy to outline a method that builds the jazz voice upon a strong foundation of proper alignment, efficient breathing, healthy phonation, a clear understanding of vocal anatomy, and the physics of singing. Various strategies to enhance improvisation and artistry are presented, and mindful coordination of all aspects is emphasized to create authentic, healthy jazz singing in this groundbreaking book.
Your ticket includes admission, a cocktail, and a copy of the book.
Couples tickets admit two, but include only one book.
