Pop Up Author Melissa Whiteford St. Clair

March 8 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Stop by M. Judson Booksellers for a Saturday morning pop up featuring local author Melissa Whiteford St. Clair and her book Home Work.

Home Work: A Collection of Poems Sparked by One White Woman’s Journey on the Matter of Race will bring readers into the heart of the author’s expedition into the study of racism and social justice electrified by Harriet Tubman’s heroic flight to freedom.

Founder of White Girl Advocacy, Melissa Whiteford St. Clair found herself emotionally affected by the rise of social injustice in the U.S. As she started doing her #whitegirlhomework and studying racism, poetry became a processing mechanism leading to advocacy through poetry. She shares her unity and social justice message through interactive advocacy workshops, antiracism efforts, poetry readings, and talks. Melissa has published two books of poetry “Home Work A Collection of Poems Sparked by One White Woman’s Journey on the Matter of Race”, “Heart Work A Heart-Centered Collection of Poems” and a self-guided workbook, “White Girl Homework.” Two of her three books were published on Harriet Tubman Day. She is a contributing poet to the “South Carolina Bards Poetry Anthology 2023.” She lives in the Upstate with her husband, and two cats, and enjoys yoga and porch sitting.
